Foursome head York Football Hall of Fame
NUNDA — The York Football Alumni Association held their seventh annual golf tournament last Saturday at Woodlynn Hills Golf Course in Nunda.
There were 28 foursomes competing in the tournament this year. The winning team of Jim LaPiana, Brent Mistretta, Bill Mistretta and Kyle MacKay shot 59 for the 18 hole tournament topping Team Joslyn (John Joslyn, Josh Joslyn, Chris Metcalf and Doug Robley) by the tiebreaker.
The women’s longest drive was won by Courtney Sobrado. Marlyn Simons won the women’s closest to the pin contest.
On the men’s side, Greg Robinson won the longest drive and Kyle Cosimano was the winner of the closest to the pin contest.
At the post-golf dinner, four new members were inducted into the York Football Hall of Fame. This year’s inductees included Joe Bucci Sr. (Class of ‘62); Bob Christiano (Class of ‘74); Tom Jerris (Class of ‘76); and Harold “Laddy” Parker (long time supporter of York football).
All the inductees were presented a plaque honoring their induction and their names will be permanently inscribed on the new Hall of Fame plaque to be presented to the school at a later date.
