Cal-Mum school board reorganizes
July begins a new fiscal year for school districts in New York and the Caledonia-Mumford School Board met July 14 2009 to lay down the organizational plans for the 2009-2010 school year.
District Clerk and Business Manager Patrick Donegan opened the meeting by administering the oath of office to new board members Timothy Anderson, William VanAllen and encumbent Arnold Rychlicki. The board then re-elected Jay Jones as president and John Bickford as vice-president. Jones conducted the remainder of the meeting’s business.
Two topics were raised to the board during the public forums: a resident suggested that there should be a kindergarten graduation ceremony for students and parents at the end of the school year and there was a question regarding Regents tests.
The board approved several annual appointments and assignments; with a partial listing of the familiar areas below:
Board clerk – Patrick Donegan, District Treasurer – Cynthia Oltmann, Tax Collector – Vicki Dutton, Title IX Compliance Officer – David Dinolfo, Section 504/ADA Compliance Officer – Deb Starr, Community Education Coordinator – Sally Santora, District Physician – Workfit Medical, LLC – Dr. C. Jay Ellie (students) and Occupational Safety On Site, Inc. (employees).
Bank depositories – Bank of Castile, Bank of America, Five Star Bank, J.P. Morgan Chase, Bank of New York Melton.
Regular monthly meetings – second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, 6 p.m. start unless otherwise posted.
Official newspaper – Livingston County News. Health instruction – Meg Geer, school pesticide – Dan Toland.
Elementary Compact – Arnie Rychlicki, Middle Compact – Arnie Rychlicki, High Compact – Steve Sickes, Technology Committee – Jay Jones, Genesee Valley School Board reps – Bill Van Allen and Jay Jones, Negotiations Committee – Jay Jones and Jackie Jones and Steve Sickles, Athletic Fields Committee – Steve Sickles.
Board Approved Business for 2009-2010
Building use fees $18 per hour. Tuition fees kindergarten through six grade $2,000 and grades seven through twelve $1,750.
Substitute rates: certified subs $75 a day/after 40 days $90; uncertified sub $70 day/after 40 days $85; nurse $85 day; secretary $85 day after 40 days $90. Wage for school to work students is set at the minimum wage currently in effect. On-site cafeteria manager at the elementary school is Cathy Morrill.
The next board of education meeting is August 11 at 6 p.m.
