Little League: Geneseo 11, Oakfield 7

Geneseo emptied the bullpen on July 16 as seven different pitchers saw action.  The G-town hurlers limited Oakfield to four hits; three coming on the first three batters of the game. Sammy Johnson pitched a shutout second inning aided by shortstop Jake Clar’s stellar 6-6-3 double play.

Jamison Moran pitched well in the third but was hurt by three Geneseo miscues.  Cody DuBiel pitched a perfect fourth while Jake Vattimo gave up only a single run in the fifth. Blake Phelps finished in the sixth striking out three.

Geneseo pounded out thirteen hits, with Trevor Frazier, Connor Keihl and Kevin Herlihy going 2-for-4.  Frazier’s  crucial blow came in the first as his bases-loaded two-out triple plated three.

Vattimo got things going in the second with a leadoff smack down the leftfield line. Moran walked, then Keihl was robbed of a hit on a highlight reel grab by the second baseman.

Johnson walked (drawing a total of nine in the all-star tourney), then two-out singles by Clar, Frazier and  Herlihy  increased Geneseo’s lead to 9 – 2. Geneseo added two in the fifth on singles by Moran, Phelps and DuBiel.
