Football Rankings

1. Hornell- Don’t expect the No. 1 state-ranked Red Raiders (4-0) to see any stiff competition until deep into sectionals. Program has won 30-straight football games and this year have outscored their opponents 145-22 and still haven’t allowed a single point in the first or third periods all year.

2. Letchworth- The Indians (3-1) have outscored their last two opponents 103-7 with Chris Nevinger rushing 27 times for 240 yards (15.6 avg) and six TD’s in those two games. Stud fullback Clifton Bacon has rushed for 357 yards on 34 carries with five TD’s this season.

3. Cal-Mum- The Red Raiders (3-1) have a stiff test tonight as they host unbeaten Avon (4-0) at the Hamilton Field Sports Complex for their ‘Homecoming’ game. Cal-Mum’s stiff defense will be tested by Avon’s #22 Brandon Fuentes.

4. Avon- After rolling up 56 points — including 49 in the first half — against Geneseo, the Braves (4-0) kept their No. 3 state ranking in Class D as they hit the meat of their schedule with Cal-Mum (tonight) and Letchworth in two weeks.

5. Way-Co- The Golden Eagles (3-1) are currently the No. 1 ranked team in Class C sectionals after a big 12-7 victory over Mike Berardi and the Wellsville Lions last week. Way-Co faces another stiff test tonight when they take on a hungry Bath team.

Honorable Mention- Bath (3-1); Wellsville (2-2); York (2-2); Geneseo (2-2); Livonia (2-2).
