Avon Scout is 66th Eagle for Troop 26
Avon BSA Troop 26 presented Tyler Kostraba, of Avon, the Eagle Award on March 18 during a ceremony held at the Avon American Legion.
On hand for the Court of Honor were fellow Troop 26 Eagle Scouts Peter Kostraba (Tyler’s brother), Michael Cochrane, and Sergeant First Class Anthony Fusco (Tyler’s brother-in-law), who gave Tyler the Eagle Charge — a challenge to uphold Scouting’s ideals of honor and service.
Presenting Tyler his Eagle Award was his first Scoutmaster, Scott Gage. Tyler then proceeded to present the Mentor’s pins to his brothers Peter Kostraba and Anthony Fusco, who were an inspiration for Tyler to become an Eagle Scout, and continue to be an inspiration to Tyler in his everyday life.
The Court of Honor was also for the Troop, as 22 Merit Badges and eight rank advancements were handed out. Tyler is the Troop’s 66th Eagle Scout.
The Troop’s first Eagle was awarded in 1933. Avon Troop 26 is chartered by the Avon Rotary Club.
Scott Stevens, Troop 26 Scoutmaster from 2003 to 2006 provides a recap of Tyler’s scouting career:
Tyler could be counted on to help with fundraising programs, community service, and attending high-adventure opportunities, often being elected the Crew Chief by the other Scouts in the expedition.
Tyler has exemplified the values of Scouting by living the Scout Oath and Motto and serving in Troop leadership positions.
