Perry wins battle of the unbeatens
LIVONIA — The homestanding Livonia Bulldogs entered their Livingston Conference tennis showdown with unbeaten Perry a perfect 8-0.
Perfect no longer.
Perry would improve their record to 8-0 as they nipped Livonia 3-2 in crossover action May 8.
The Yellowjackets swept all the singles matches while Livonia won both doubles contests.
The deciding match came at second singles where Perry’s Maggie Hale rallied for the three-set victory over Jake Bills — dropping the first set and winning the next two — 2-6, 7-6 (7-3) and 6-4.
At first singles, Perry’s Christian Bryant earned a straight sets victory over Gabe Cunningham 7-5 and 6-3.
At third singles, L.B. Hayes defeated Livonia’s Jeff Julien in straight sets 6-0, 6-3.
Livonia won both doubles matches in three sets as the team of Pete Sauter and Wansi Habte defeated Tyler Elliott and Liz Rechberger, 7-5, 2-6 and 7-5.
At second doubles, Livonia’s Sean Smith and Cameron French rallied for the 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Perry’s Tyler Campbell and Will Wondra ,
