Orleans County lawmakers: state budget is a “train wreck”
The legislators of Orleans County have taken a public stance on state mandates as they affect the County budget. The legislators placed a large sign on the courthouse lawn, which read “Mayday for Mandate Relief” and spoke out against fiscal policies that they say will impoverish their county. The legislators say that state mandated programs are so expensive that they may force the county to severely cut services other than those mandated.
