McCaffrey announces general election bid

Democrat and Interim District Attorney Gregory McCaffrey has announced that he will seek election to a full term as Livingston County DA. “I believe my experience in the courts and as a felony prosecutor; combined with my deep roots Livingston County have prepared me to take on this responsibility and succeed,” he told reporters. McCaffrey was appointed to the position of Interim DA by Gov. Andrew Cuomo this spring after Tom Moran left the position to take a seat on the State Supreme Court. One of McCaffrey’s first acts was to fire acting DA Eric Scheiner, a longtime employee of the office.

Kodak patent firesale attracts ire of licensees

A planned sale of some 1,100 patents by Kodak has licensees of those patents concerned that their interests will not be honored by the intended purchasers of those rights. Samsung is one of the licensees which has voiced concerns over the proposed sale. “The proposed procedures lack important protections for Kodak licensees and therefore should be clarified in certain respects,” attorneys for Samsung wrote in an objection that they filed Monday.

Apple has also opposed the sale on the grounds that it claims ownership of some of the patents themselves.

Today’s Weather
