Caledonia and Mumford celebrate 25 years of fire service
Mumford and Caledonia Fire Departments hosted a day-long celebration of both fire departments’ 125th anniversary. A brief opening ceremony at the Mumford FD equipment museum started things off.
The department is planning to bury three time capsules at the site; a 25, 50 and 100 year collection of symbolic items. CMCS students have contributed to the time capsules. Items will be accepted for the time capsules until August.
A two-hour long parade that included fire companies from three counties, a fire muster on George Street featuring an antique steam operated pumper, games, food and music rounded out the day and night.
Few fire departments have as much history as Caledonia and Mumford,” said Mumford firefighter and past chief Todd Smith.
