Accident kills LeRoy Woman

Another tragic accident has claimed the life of an elderly woman in LeRoy. Police say that Marie Costa, 88, was driving on Main Street in the village and drove her car onto the sidewalk and struck the McDonalds restaurant. The crash, which did not injure anyone else, occurred at around 7:45 a.m. Investigators say that the cause of the crash is still unknown.

Schumer investigates dangerous lasers

Sen. Charles Schumer has taken on the laser pointer industry as he investigates the dangers of pointing lasers at airplanes. Schumer says that such laser pointers have been used to confuse and annoy pilots during takeoff and landing, and that studies have shown that some powerful lasers can cause dangerous conditions at almost one mile. In a letter to federal regulators Schumer asked for a ruling requiring manufacturers of lasers to affix warning stickers reminding users that it is a federal crime to point a laser at an airplane.

The challengers are claiming administrative overload, lack of transparency, poor student performance, and a need for a student resource officer, and are also bemoaning a newly enacted policy for school voter identification documentation.
