Six share $4,000 in ‘Idol’ prize money

The final round of Wyoming County Idol last Friday, Aug. 10 at Letchworth Pines ordered the six finalist contestants for distribution of $4,000 in prize money. ‘First place,’ taking home $2,000 in prize money, was Megan Johnson of Fillmore.

The contestants are, from left to right, first place winner Megan Johnson, Cara Ferraro of Batavia (sixth place, $100), Kayla Mower of Warsaw (fourth place, $250), Michelle Mitchell of Shortsville (third place, $500), Mark Nupp of Allegany (second place, $1,000) and Jane Howe of Mount Morris (fifth place $125).

For the final event, each contestant sang selected songs in the country, rock and classic genres.

During the breaks the audience was entertained by former Idol winners: 2010 winner Whitney Riley of Cuba, 2007 winner Shannon Rougeux of Hornell and last year’s winner Jennifer Griffith of Hornell.
