Vandals wreak havoc at Caledonia golf course

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department says vandals are responsible for an estimated $4,300 in damage to the Caledonia County Club.

The maintenance supervisor of the golf course discovered the damage in the early morning hours on Sunday, Sept. 2, and called 911 at about 6 a.m.

Major Christopher Smith of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office reports that six greens on the course were damaged.

The vandals removed several golf course flags and used them to etch messages in the greens, including the name of race car driver Darrell Waltrip, Cal-Mum 2013, “seniors suck,” and other expletives.

Other decorative items at the course were also damaged. Deputies Ross Gerace and David Richardson responded to the Caledonia Country Club when the call came in.

Sheriff’s deputies have spoken with the New York State Police and Caledonia PD in their investigation of the incident.

Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call the LCSO or 911.
