Miskell leads Geneseo sweep

GENESEO — Anna Miskell wired the field at Tuesday’s cross-country meet as she helped Geneseo earn the sweep over Attica, Kendall and Dansville during LCAA-GR action at Geneseo High School.

Miskell, a junior, won her race by nearly 30 seconds as she hit the wire in 19:41 with Attica’s Lindsay Chamberlain placing second (20:08).

Aso for Geneseo, Lindsay Ryan was third (20:46); Brianna Horn was fourth (20:57) and Megan Moynihan was seventh (21:57). Morgan Bailey placed ninth (22:32).

Geneseo defeated Attica (21-34); Dansville (17-39) and Kendall (15-50).

Dansville was led by Breden Gibson’s sixth place finish in 21:44 while teammates Samantha Miller (23:36); Min Muchler (23:44) and Amber O’Dell (24:00) placed 13th through 15th respectively.

York’s Jackie Lajoie, who competes as a team of one, had a great showing as she placed eighth overall in 22:31.

The Geneseo girls cross-country team placed third at last Saturday’s West Seneca Invitational.

Class B state power East Aurora (Sec. VI) won the team title with 19 points while Immaculata Academy was second (91) and Geneseo third (112) in the 16-team event.

Miskell had another outstanding performance as she placed 13th overall with a time of 21:02 while Horn wasn’t far behind with her 15th place finish in 21:16.

Also for Geneseo, Ryan was 25th (22:10); Moynihan placed 34th (22:49) and Brittany Johnson was 39th (23:09).

Jackie Lajoie of York placed fourth in the JV race with a time of 23:03.
