Hazing charges
SUNY Geneseo volleyball players appear in court
Six of 11 members of the SUNY Geneseo women’s volleyball team made a five-minute appearance in Geneseo village court Tuesday afternoon. The other five players were represented by their attorneys.
Village Justice Tom Bushnell accepted pleas of “not guilty” and scheduled a court date for Nov. 13.
The students are charged with hazing and unlawfully dealing with a child following an incident over Labor Day weekend in which freshmen members of the team were handcuffed and ordered to drink hard liquor.
One 18 year old victim was taken to the hospital for alcohol poisoning.
Last month, college administration suspended the team for the 2012-13 season.
