Geneseo splits CYFL games with Dansville

GENESEO — Adam Wright ran for a pair of touchdowns while Michael Walton ran for one score as host Geneseo blanked Dansville 24-0 in CYFL Junior Division action last Sunday at Ted Bondi Field in Geneseo.

Geneseo led 8-0 at the half.

Wright scored on TD runs of 65 and 15 yards while Walton scored on a 15 yard TD run and also added two PAT conversion runs.

It was Geneseo’s third victory of the year.

Dansville got the upper hand in the senior game as the Mustangs defeated Geneseo 32-18.

Masin Schuster had a solid all-around game as he rushed for 74 yards and also had three receptions for 60 yards and one TD.

Also for Dansville, Ben Caruso ran for 50 yards and one TD; Max Connor rushed for 27 yards; Zack Foster had 17 yards on the ground while Bryce Quibell had 15 yards and one TD.

Arrik Gerber and Dylan Race also carried the ball.

Race had a nice day passing as he threw for two TD’s and had 97 yards through the air.

Steven Entwistle had one reception for 20 yards, while Mark Lawrence caught a 17-yard TD pass.

On defense, Mark Lawrence had seven tackles and two INT’s; Max Connor had seven tackles and two sacks; Masin Schuster had eight tackles and two sacks; Dylan Race and Tyler Mahany each had four tackles; Lokan Marsland made one sack; Mike Forrester had one INT; and Trevor Shotwell, Byrce Quibell, Hayden Meyer, Stefen Entwistle, Jacob Avery, John Wilkinson, Arrik Gerber, Nelson Sharpe, Even Sinsebox and Elliot Mapes each made one tackle.

Geneseo scored in the first period when Jordan Szczesniak scored from 12 yards away. The touchdown was set up when Liam Miskell recovered a fumble.

In the second, Max Cole-Staley scored on a 64-yard kick-off return.

The Sr. Devils capped off their scoring in the fourth when Kyle MacDonald reeled in a 78-yard scoring pass from Jordan Szczesniak, who finished the game 5-of-15 passing for 83 yards.

Szczesniak also ran 10 times for 56 yards and one TD, while Max Cole Staley had 19 yards on five carries. Owen Lyons and Justin Harris also ran the ball.

Kyle MacDonald finished with two receptions for 83 yards and one TD while Dakota Myers, Justin Harris and Max Cole Staley each caught one pass.

On defense, Max Cole Staley led the way with 10 tackles while Kyle MacDonald had eight and Zach Strong made five. Jordan Lambert, Noah Reilly, Owen Lyons and Justin Harris each made four tackles; Liam Miskell, Tyler Westoni, and Jordan Szczesniak had two apiece; and Dominic Provo, Ethan Rider and Mike Testa had one each. Dakota Myers and Noah Reilly also recovered a fumble.
