Geneseo holds first fall festival Oct. 20
The first annual Main Street Geneseo Autumn Fest is being held this Saturday, Oct. 20, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Artisans, crafters and sidewalk sales will be lining Main Street. Center street will be closed off for musical performances and entertainment under a tent-covered 20-by-40 foot stage.
In addition, there will be hayrides, microbrew tasting, food concessions, a 50/50 raffle and Chinese auction. Children who color the scarecrow accompanying the flier in this week’s newspaper are entitled to one free hayride.
Virtually every downtown business has been involved with the organization of the event. The festival is also being held in conjunction with SUNY Geneseo through the Geneseo Juggling club, Irish Dance, Bhangra, the “G-Steppas” (step team) and Southside boys (a cappella group.)
Kickin’ Country FM 105.3 will be broadcasting live from the festival.
Among the non-profit vendors will be Hippies for Hope, a college-based, grass-roots charitable organization spreading smiles through tie-dye.
By selling $10 tie-dyed shirts, members are able to make more tie-dyed shirts and donate them to children in local hospitals. Partial proceeds also go to sponsor the SEGA Schools for Girls in Tanzania, Africa.
