Livonia volleyball spikes Newark

LIVONIA — The seventh seeded Livonia Lady Bulldogs’ volleyball team made quick work out of 10th seeded Newark as they swept them in quarterfinal action Thursday.

Livonia won by scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-12.

Kelly Hierlwimmer, a sophomore outside hitter, led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 kills and five digs.

Junior setter Jillian Foley added 17 service points and 13 assists while sophomore libero Nicole Donnelly tallied eight digs for the Lady Bulldogs, who will play No. 2 seeded Monroe in Saturday’s semifinals.

Livonia improved to 13-6 overall while Newark finished 5-11.
