Horr will be honored today at the Chapter’s third annual On the Move Luncheon at Locust Hill Country Club, 2000 Jefferson Rd., Pittsford.

The luncheon, presented during “MS Awareness Week,” shines a spotlight on some of the area’s stars in the MS movement, people who are working to a create a world free of the often disabling disease of the central nervous system.

After being diagnosed with MS in 2004, Horr found a new passion — raising money to find a cure for the disease. For the past five summers, Horr and her family have organized the MS/GIST fundraiser in Scottsville.

Horr was one of the biggest supporters of her brother during his battle with GIST cancer and continues this support through the fundraiser. The fundraiser, has raised more than $31,000 for MS and GIST cancer.

Horr is one of 10 people or groups who will be honored in five categories.

More than 2,700 people in the Greater Rochester area — and 2.1 million people worldwide — have been diagnosed with MS.
