Wyoming theater troupe casting for Arthur Miller rarity

WARSAW — The Wyoming County Bicentennial Singers has scheduled open auditions for 7 p.m. March 19 and 20 to cast its spring production, Arthur Miller’s rarely-performed family drama “The Price.”

The sessions will be at the Warsaw Grange Hall, 177 South Main St.

Four roles are to be filled: two adult males, 35-60 years old; one adult male, 60 to 75 years old; and one adult female, 35 to 60 years old.

For more information, call (585) 535-0512.

Miller’s play finds brothers Victor and Walter Franz reunited years after an angry breakup. Their father has died and they are sorting through his possessions in an old brownstone attic. The memories evoked by the belongings stir up old hostilities despite their initial wary civility.

“The Price,” which debuted in 1968, was nominated for two Tony Awards, including best play.

Other area auditions:

The Stage Players of Warsaw are casting for “The Doll House Tree,” originally written by Jamie Ackerman, a 6 year old from Warsaw.

Michael Fambro has adapted the story into a full-scale production.

The play brings the heroine, Rose, together with some Doll House Tree seeds for an imaginative journey back to the 1940s where Rose and her sister bring two young lovers together against all odds.

Auditions are scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 24 to 26 at the Stage, 23 South Main St., Warsaw.

Monologues are welcome, but not necessary for those audition.

All ages and experience levels are welcome.

This is the sixth production by The Stage Players. Performances are scheduled June 2 to 8.
