Coast Professional expanding in Henrietta
As Coast Professional is expanding its Geneseo office to accommodate 43 new jobs, it is also committing to a new office building in Henrietta which will employee an additional 103 jobs.
The Rochester Business Journal has reported that Coast will be leasing 10,000 square feet at 50 Methodist Hill Drive and spending $772,000 on equipment at the Henrietta location.
Coast Professional Vice President Roxanne Baker said the growing company was adding clients and needed more space and more staff.
“This piece of land (in Geneseo) is built out. We cannot do anymore here without buying additional land,” Baker said, adding, “And you do need to look at your employee resources in an area to make sure you balance them; to make sure you can comfortably staff from what you have.”
“Up there, Henrietta had a lot to offer,” Baker said. “I think it’s a great fit to have both facilities close to each other — which will accommodate the executive team and senior management going back and forth.”
Baker said the anticipated size of the new Henrietta office will be about equal to the existing Geneseo office, although after the expansion is complete, Geneseo will be the larger of the two.
“I was fully aware that Coast approached the County of Monroe IDA,” Livingston County Director of Economic Development Julie Marshall said. “We have a very good relationship with Coast, but they are landlocked on the site they have here. There is a maximum capacity to what they can have.”
Nor, Marshall emphasized, should Coast’s decision to go to Henrietta be looked upon as any kind of cut-throat competition between neighboring IDAs.
“The IDAs in this region do talk to each other,” Marshall said. “Contrary to the image some people might have, we are not adversarial.”
“Our first charge as an IDA is to keep and grow what we have here,” Marshall said. “But there are people in Livingston County who will benefit from the new office in Henrietta, who would drive to Henrietta for a job with Coast in that office.”
A public hearing for Coast’s Livingston County expansion — the company’s third construction project at the Volunteer Road site — was just held. The 4,000 square foot addition at 4273 Volunteer Rd. will increase the Geneseo office personnel capacity by 43.
The Business Journal reported that COMIDA approved property tax incentives of $61,760 for the Henrietta office.
Marshall said that the overall incentive package Coast will be getting in Monroe County is “absolutely” comparable to incentives which the company has received in Livingston County.
Coast operates in the highly competitive field of loan collections, representing the U.S. Department of Education and various other public and private institutions.
“It is a competitive world, and we love the world we live in,” Baker said. “But we do have to keep growing and have to keep competing to keep up with our own successes. With them come more successes.”
