Wellness group teams up with tourism office

The Genesee Valley Health Partnership is partnering with Livingston County Tourism to promote healthy living and the county’s natural beauty.

The GVHP recently concluded their 6-part series on wellness at the Livingston County Chamber. The series provided typical health information along with how to be fiscally-fit in a tough economy.

In addition to the series, the GVHP offers the Simple Steps program which promotes physical activity. The program, free for participants, encourages a half-hour of physical activity — each day for one month.

Upon completing the program, the GVHP hopes participants will continue with their physical activity.

“We encourage people to do what they can… use the resources that are available for free,” said Jean Angililli. “Even if you don’t have a lot of money, you can still be healthy.”

Therefore, the GVHP joined forces with Livingston County Tourism to promote hiking and biking in Livingston County – and the Finger Lakes area. “We want to encourage people to be a visitor in their own backyard,” said Lisa Burns, Livingston County Tourism Director.

The Genesee Valley Health Partnership wellness series is expected to continue at the Dansville Public Library. Specific dates have not yet been announced.
