Springwater garage damaged in fire

A fire broke out Wednesday evening in a garage in Springwater.

Around 6:50 p.m., the Livingston County 911 Center got a report of a structure fire on School St. in the Hamlet. The Springwater Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene along with Sheriff’s Deputies and found a garage on fire. Homeowner John Fredericy was performing mechanical work on a vehicle when the fire started. He sustained minor burns to his hands and otherwise was unharmed.

The garage was significantly damaged along with two vehicles inside.  he Springwater Fire Department were able to save the house and other surrounding buildings from catching fire.

Livingston County Fire Investigators McGory and Gerhig were on scene and preliminary investigation ruled the fire an accident.  Sgt. Michael Dougherty, Dep Daniel McLaughlin, and Dep . Michael Williams on scene for investigation.
