The Alliance for Business Growth for Livingston and Wyoming Counties is offering a fall session of the Business Ownership Training Course. This comprehensive class is designed to assist entrepreneurs in the two county region who are either prospective or existing business owners.
James Grillo, Professor of Business at Alfred State College and SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor, teaches this fast-paced course covering subjects such as: marketing, accounting, taxes, insurance, payroll, pricing, e-commerce, and financing. A prolific entrepreneur himself, Jim uses concrete examples from his own business experience to illustrate the information he presents.
Past participants have found the combination of Grillo’s lessons and the opportunity to network and build relationships with other entrepreneurs highly beneficial. Throughout the duration of the class, participants will work on the preparation of their own business plan and be given valuable resources for creating success.
“Now more than ever, entrepreneurs need to have access to the education necessary to create and sustain successful small businesses. The future of our local economy depends on this," said Louise Wadsworth, Director of the Alliance for Business Growth.
Alliance programs were developed by the economic development offices of both Livingston and Wyoming County to foster and encourage entrepreneurship throughout the region, and include downtown revitalization programs in 11 downtowns.
The Business Ownership Training Course will run from September 16th through November 18th on Wednesday evenings from 6–9 p.m. Classes are held in the Holcomb building on the SUNY Geneseo campus. Applications are now being accepted and must be received by Sept. 4.
All Alliance programs must comply with federal HUD guidelines. The Business Ownership Training Course is offered free to income eligible participants, but anyone may apply. A fee will be charged to those who do not qualify under HUD guidelines as low-to-moderate income entrepreneurs. All materials are included.
