Dansville to host Arts and Music Extravaganza

The Arts and Music Extravaganza will be held on August 7 and 8 in Dansville’s Historic Central Business District to celebrate regional artists, craft persons and musicians and to promote local businesses and restaurants in the area of Main Street.

Ossian Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from Friday at 5 p.m. until Saturday evening for a series of musical events which will be held under the tents there—one for musicians and one for the audience. Concerts will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening and continue until dusk. A variety of musical events will begin on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. and will continue throughout the day and evening until dark.

The library lawn at 200 Main Street will host a variety of events for young people; crafting by Ruth Witte and Growing Places, performances by Dansville Community Theater and mini concerts of music for kids, as well as storytelling from 10 a.m. until noon.

The STAR Theater will show movies both days at 7 p.m. and will have a 3 p.m. Saturday matinee.
On Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. there will an Arts and Craft Show on the Main Street sidewalks from Chestnut to Perine Streets in front of the businesses, retail stores and restaurants. Folks are invited to go to the restaurants, purchase food and eat either inside or at tables outside or at the tables under the tent on Ossian Street and listen to the music while dining.

Music will be provided for listening pleasure at the tent in front of One 29 Main. Folks can also go inside to find photography, hand crafted items, jewelry, paintings and much more. Lost Lake Gallery is now at that location also. Walk in and be amazed at what is there.

Watch for a complete schedule of musical events in the media, banks, restaurants and retail businesses in Dansville and the area.
