Dansville village board updates vehicle use guidelines

The Village Board passed a motion regarding specific guidelines for the use of Village vehicles. The guidelines prohibit the personal use of vehicles, require log sheets for employees, and the Village insignia to be present on all vehicles.

Trustee Kershner is also working on developing additional guidelines and procedures. The Board will continue to look at all of their options and add to (or change) the guidelines as needed.

This measure follows a complaint about a village vehicle being used for personal business.

Additional Road Work

The Village Board passed a motion to utilize accumulated, rollover CHIP funds for improvements to both Franklin and Gibson Streets. Under the program, road maintenance work must last ten years or more.  The total cost of the project would be about $187,000 – which would be completely covered by the rollover finds. In the past, the Village has attempted to secure funding for road work on Gibson Street – but been unsuccessful.

Other Village News

The Village continues to address the odor problems associated with the Waste Water Treatment Plant. While solutions have been determined for the existing problems, they will come at a cost to the Village. “They’re definitely some things that we need to do,” said Village Administrator, Keith Petti.

The Dansville Fire Department has received a grant from the Department of Homeland Security for fire prevention.
