Keshequa's Catherine Mucha (21) tries to dribble the ball past York's Tuesday Boss in the first half Tuesday night.
NUNDA — This Keshequa team is for real.
The Lady Indians dominated their D-III match-up against defending state champion York, outshooting the Lady Knights 29-5, but had to settle for a 1-1 tie Tuesday in Nunda.
The game was tied 1-1 after regulation, and two 10-minute overtime periods.
“We clearly had the better of the play, but they managed to pack a lot of girls into the goal area throughout the night, which obviously worked to their advantage,” said Keshequa coach Pete Goho.
After a scoreless first half, Keshequa took the 1-0 lead when Catherine Mucha scored 15 minutes after the break on an 18-yard direct kick to the far post that just went out of the reach of York keeper Tonya Klein’s reach.
But about 12 minutes later York would get the equalizer as Jackie Morgan’s shot would spin out of the hands of Keshequa keeper Morgan Howe and caromed into the net for the 1-1 game.
Klein finished with 16 saves while Howe made four stops.
Keshequa is 3-0-1 while York is 1-0-1.
The two teams will meet again in York Tuesday, Oct. 13.
