Town caucus updates

With a Sept. 22 Board of Elections filing deadline, political parties in Livingston County’s 17 townships are holding and scheduling caucuses at a swift pace. Caucuses held since our last report on Aug. 8 follow:

York Democrats, caucusing in Aug. 12, named only the four Republican incumbents: Walter Purtell and Thomas Porter for justice and Norman Gates and Lynn Parnell for council.

Conesus Republicans, caucusing on Aug. 11, named their own incumbents: Brenda Donohue for supervisor, Annette McNinch for clerk, James Dys for justice, Steve Martucio for highway superintendent and Bert Lute, Jr. for council. Newcomer Timothy Beardslee was named for the second council seat. No candidates were named by Conesus Democrats on Aug. 18.

Nunda Republicans, caucusing Aug. 12, named their incumbents Thomas Baldwin for supervisor, Cindy Essler for clerk, and John Thompson and Doris Marsh Malluber as councilmembers.

Nunda Democrats, caucusing on Aug. 25, decided to make no nominations.

Greg McCaffrey for justice was the only candidate named by Lima Democrats on Aug. 19.

Sparta Democrats on Aug. 19 named three newcomers: Allan Webster and Nancy Fitzpatrick for council, and Dan Jeffmar for highway superintendent.

Caledonia Republicans, caucusing on Aug. 25, named their full slate of incumbents: Dan Pangrazio for supervisor, Laurie Sattora for clerk, Gilbert Smith for justice, and Mark Rothrock and Todd Bickford for counsel.

Groveland Democrats, caucusing on Aug. 26, put up Wendell Rhodes as justice, but he has since declined the nomination. Named for council were Ronald Niedermaier and Peter Soscia.

Geneseo Democrats were caucusing Tuesday evening as The County News was going to press.

Still to happen are Ossian Democrats on Sept. 9; Springwater Democrats Sept. 10, and Springwater Republicans Sept. 11.

The scheduling of several caucuses is still to be filed with the Board of Elections. Some critical caucuses remain to be scheduled. In other instances, a party may have no intention of nominating candidates and hence may not be holding a caucus.

All caucuses are at town halls, generally at 7 pm, unless indicated otherwise.
