New York State Police found a human foot Tuesday morning in Springwater Creek on School St. in Springwater hamlet.
According to a state police press release, remains were located inside a sneaker in the creek. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation was excavating the creek due to erosion and discovered the remains.
In August 2006, Troopers conducted in investigation into the disappearance of Gerald Meek, who was reported missing from Springwater. In January 2007, Meek’s partial skeletal remains were recovered in the Springwater Creek. There has been no indication of foul play.
The remains found today were forwarded to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s office for examination.
