Dansville readies for Winter in the Village

DANSVILLE, NY — The Dansville Area Chamber of Commerce invites the entire community to attend the annual Winter in the Village festival on December 5.

The evening’s festivities will take place throughout Main Street in Dansville’s Historic Business District.

An arts and crafts show will be held from 10am-8pm at the Town Hall. The Dansville Public Library will also have “Songs, Stories, and Crafts with Santa and Mrs. Claus” at 1pm.

The Star Theater will offer a mid-afternoon matinee at 3 p.m. and a 9 p.m. showing. In addition, the theater will host the 78 RPM Big Band for a free concert from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Those in attendance can also hear additional musical performances at the Genesee Valley Federal Credit Union from 5-8pm. Band of Brothers will perform from 5-6 p.m., Dansville Middle School at 6 p.m., Natalie Harter at 6:30 p.m., Wayland Aires at 7 p.m., and the Barbershoppers at 7:30 p.m.

Live piano music will be at Grand Manor Suites from 5-8pm and the Dansville Dance Center will have a variety of entertainment during the same time.

The Fourth Annual Festival of Lights, sponsored by the Village of Dansville and the Lion’s Club, begins in Church Park at 5:30 pm. Santa will turn on the lights and head to his shop on Main Street. He will be in front of 155 Main Street from 6-8 p.m.

A wine tasting will be held from 5-8 p.m. at the Lost Lake Gallery at One29 Main. While there, attendees can browse the hand-crafted items created by local craftspersons.

Ice sculptures will be on display at 4pm (until they melt) at Dansville Stationers, Dansville Public Library, and the Genesee Valley Federal Credit Union.

In addition, the American Red Cross will hold an open house from 6:30-8 p.m. Visitors can enjoy music, refreshments, tours, and a plant sale.

Other festivities (from 5-9 p.m.) include caroling in the streets, street vendors and the Waffle Lady, sales at local businesses, and great food at local restaurants.
