Letter: Livonia sports boosters congratulate fall teams

Submitted by the Executive Board of the Livonia Athletic Booster Club

LIVONIA, NY — The Livonia Athletic Booster Club would like to congratulate Livonia athletes on a great fall varsity sports season.

The Bulldogs distinguished themselves on the fields, courts and trails and in the pool, bringing home many titles and awards. And along the way, these athletes raised over $10,000 for charities through a number of different fundraising activities.

Leading off the Bulldogs’ accomplishments was the girls’ soccer team advancing to the state semifinals, after winning the Section V Class B title for the sixth time.

The girls’ cross country team posted a 20-1 record in meets and won the combined Livingston County/Genesee-Orleans League title.

The girls’ volleyball team won the Livingston County Athletic Association league title and advanced to the sectional final.

The girls’ swim team won the LCAA league title and finished second at sectionals. The cheerleading team finished second in the league and fifth at sectionals.

The football team advanced to the sectional final as a No. 8 seed, beating the No. 1 and No. 5 seeds before losing to eventual state-champion Hornell in the title game.

The boys’ soccer team posted a winning record and advanced to the sectional semifinals.

The boys’ cross-country team also finished the season with a winning record.

There were many individual award winners as well. They include:

In football, Jeff Wester, Section V Class B Defensive Player of the Year, and Tristan Hudak, LCAA first-team All Star.

In volleyball, Alysha LaDuke, Kelly Johnson and Kristie Barger, LCAA first-team All Star. In cross country, Nic Rees and Audrey Redman, LCAA All Stars.

In soccer, Taryn Van Thof, Hollie Pierce, Brooke Mallaber, Kaylie Ewers, Jacke Minnehan and Hannah Conine, LCAA first-team All Stars; Taryn Van Thof, All-Greater Rochester Team and Section V Offensive Player; and Brooke Mallaber, Section V Defensive Player.

Five swimmers, Kate Sessler, Corina Imburgia, Bridget Miskell, Erika Kalgren, and Nicole Leinders, advanced to the state meet.

These five as well as Gabrielle Sherwood, Emily Przysinda, Alaiya Tuntemeke, Melissa Krause, and Sarah Gaffney were named LCAA All Stars and Molly Orman was named LCAA Coach of the Year.

In cheerleading, Kelsey Reeder and Rebecca Stockslader were named first-team league All Stars.

In boys’ soccer, Chris Bausch, Logan Britton and Chuckie D’Imperio were first-team LCAA All Stars. Many other Bulldog athletes received honorable mentions on All Star teams.

Equally impressive is the large number of athletes on fall sports teams who were honored as scholar-athletes.

The Livonia Athletic Booster Club (LABC) would like to thank the Bulldog athletes, their coaches and all those involved in the athletic programs for all their hard work this fall season.
