Caledonia village board discusses police reorganization

CALEDONIA, NY — Caledonia’s Village Board meeting agenda included discussion of reorganization of the police department in light of the resignation of David Richardson who had been in charge the past several years.

Richardson resigned to take a position with the Livingston County Sheriffs Department.

Veteran Officer Daniel Chapman is handling the administrative duties at this time. The board approved a motion to post for part time vacancies within the department. Mayor Joe Caluorie said the board would be discussing a longterm plan for the department in the coming weeks.

The board, through Local Law No. 2, discussed reducing the speed limit to 25 miles per hour on East Avenue, Park Place, Iroquois Road, Jersey and Church Streets.

The speed reduction is for safety purposes of these densely residential areas. The board will hold a public hearing on January 5, 2010 to discuss the proposed speed reductions.
