GREIGSVILLE — It was gut check time for Chris Dermody.
And the York senior passed with flying colors.
Dermody had to reach deep down into his bag of fortitude and determination as he gutted out a 2-1 triple OT victory over Alexander’s Brandon Toperczyk in the 140-pound weight class as York got the 45-36 victory over visiting Alexander in non-league action Wednesday.
York junior wasted no time in his 171-pound bout as he decked Alexander’s Steve Reinheimer in just 28 seconds.
It didn’t take Mike Truax, a York sophomore, much more time in pinning Austin Heberlein in 1:10 during their 160-pound contest.
Alexander was the beneficiary of five forfeits but York won the head-to-head bouts by a combined 33-6 score.
Other pinners for York included freshman Josh Kane at 125 pounds as he pinned Nick Schiffler in 3:51 while sophomore John Vanslyke pinned Alexander’s Steve Geyer in 2:39 at 130 pounds.
At 152 pounds, York’s Derek Emond pinned Alton Rupp in 5:41.
Geneseo 47, Pavilion 30
The Flickner brothers picked up a pair of pins as host Geneseo got the LCAA D-III victory over Pavilion Thursday.
Paul Flickner, a junior, pinned Boddy Weston in 2:54 pounds at 160-pounds while Shawn, a senior, decked Tony Hulme in 22 seconds at 171-pounds for the Blue Devils, who improved to 7-0 on the season.
Other pinners for Geneseo included Connor Ragan (112); Tyler Carman (135); and David Greening (140).
Geneseo’s Devon Rodriguez stayed undefeated at 13-0 with the 10-2 decision over Pavilion’s Jeff Butler.
Geneseo senior Clay Phelps won a technical fall decision over Jared McDonald at 145 pounds.
Pavilion had five wrestlers earn pins including Mark Chauncey (125); Mike Thayer (130); Cody ONeill (189); Joe Hulme (215) and JD Weaver (285).
