GENESEO — Great team chemistry seems to be a natural with this year’s Bath boys’ basketball team.
That was evident Tuesday night.
Sparked by Nick Rossi’s hot start, and Brett Sutryk’s burning-the-nets third period, visiting Bath showed why they are one of the LCAA’s elite teams with the 65-41 crossover victory over Geneseo.
Bath led 62-27 after three periods when Bath coach Brian Dyring respectfully emptied his bench. Geneseo outscored Bath 14-3 in the fourth to keep it somewhat respectable.
Rossi hit a pair of three’s in the first period while Drew Seager and Justin Howell controlled the boards as the Rams jumped out to a 19-9 lead.
They would extend the lead to 40-19 at the half as the Rams’ defense forced Geneseo into several turnovers.
Sutryk, who led all scorers with 23 points, pumped in 11 of those in a three-minute span of the third period, including back-to-back three’s from the top of the key as Bath built a 35-point lead before calling off the dogs.
Sutryk, who finished with five 3-pointers, added five assists and three steals while the court-savvy Rossi finished with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists. Seager added 13 points and nine rebounds while Jimmy Tunison netted eight points for the Rams (7-4).
Sophomore Wes Smith had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Blue Devils (1-8).
