LCAA football places 15 on All-State list

Livingston Conference football received their due as the NYSSWA All-State team was released last week with 15 LCAA players earning honors.

In Class B, Hornell’s Austin Dwyer was named Player of the Year after guiding the Red Raiders to the program’s first-ever state title.

He was named to the first team along with offensive lineman Isaac Spike.

Livonia senior linebacker Jeff Wester earned second team honors after leading the LCAA in tackles and helping the Bulldogs earn a spot in the Class B sectional finals.

Bath junior Nick Carroll was also named a second team linebacker.

Hornell junior Sam Stonerock was named to the third team defense as a linebacker.

In Class C, Letchworth was well-represented as senior running back Bucky Hendrickson earned third team honors while teammate Chris Nevinger, a sophomore linebacker, was named third team on defense.

Wellsville senior linebacker Matt Brown was named to the second team while Way-Co senior defensive back Kyle Carman was selected as a fourth team defensive player.

In Class D, both Avon and York filled plenty of spots as the Braves placed four members on the squad while York had two make the cut.

Avon senior Garrett Kesel was the lone first team pick as a defensive back.

Cal-Mum junior offensive lineman Matt Riggi was selected to the second team offense while Avon junior linebacker Richie Welch and York senior defensive back Jesse Galvin both earned second team honors.

Avon junior quarterback James Stanton and senior offensive lineman Pat Teta were both named to the third team offense as was York senior wideout Adam Illerbrun.

The 15 selections handed out to the LCAA was the most ever.
