Avon, Perry win LCAA cheer titles

The Avon cheerleaders, coached by Shaun Loomis and Ashley Herkimer, captured the D-II crown Monday night at the LCAA Cheerleading Championships.

WAYLAND — While Avon and Perry each claimed their respective cheerleading titles solo, Bath and Dansville shared the crown at Monday’s LCAA Cheerleading Championships held at Wayland-Cohocton.

Avon captured the D-II title with 175 points — 12 ahead of runner-up Le Roy (163). Letchworth placed third with 159 points.

The Avon team is coached by Shaun Loomis and Ashley Herkimer. Members of the team include Roxy Haley, Summer Georger, Laura Schwab, Audra Ovsenik, Tori Lincourt, Rhiann Korth, Jolene Barrett, Olvia Linden, Sheridan Corrigan, Alissa Ferraro, Casey DuPont, Sally Welch, Allyson Loomis and Libbi Crushank.

Perry was crowned champions in D-III as the Yellowjackets scored 172 points, just nipping runner-up Pavilion (170). Keshequa placed third (155) while York was fourth (154).

The Perry team is coached by Cheryl Hayes. Members of the team include Brooke DeVinney, Colleen Hayes, Makenzie Ikeler, Jessica Ricotta, Lyndsay Bailey, Katie Matteson, Nicole Safford, Kelsey Ames, Katie Hayes, Leah Cappadonia, Nicole Hewitt, Kali Ryan and Ashley Carman.

It wasn’t long ago when the Bath cheerleading team was near the bottom of the LCAA D-I cheerleading place finishers.

Not anymore.

The Rams, coached by Kori Colegrove, pulled off a superb cheer/dance routine as they placed first, along with perennial power Dansville in D-I.

Bath finished the event with 170 points the same total Dansville scored crowning each team as D-I co-champions. Livonia placed third with 161 points while Wayland-Cohocton, who was penalized 10 points, finished fourth with 158 points.

Members of the Bath squad include Mary Bart, Alyssa Carpenter, Laura Chissom, Devyn Dickson, Alexa Gleason, Shelby Green, Marika Jones, Alexis Law, Jessika McCombs, Jenna Overcast, Ericka Phillips, Taylor Phillips, Tempest Rice, Morgan Rundell and Alexis VanTreese.

The Dansville team is coached by Larry and Phyllis Greene.

Members of the Dansville team include Ashley Briggs, Ayesha Burr, Beth Young, Brittney Rowe, Courtney Walker, Debbie Gleason, Emily Doe, Felicia Holbrook, Katrina Lopez, Kenedi Young, Kirstyn Applin, Maddison Brienski, Nicole Dugo and Tempestt Wilbur.
