SPRINGWATER — Peter J. Callahan Sr., 82 years of age, passed away early Friday morning, January 22, 2010 at his home on Carney Hollow Road.
Peter was born May 12, 1927 in Rochester the son of Peter A. and Emma (Tongate) Callahan. He spent the first few years of his life in Rochester and then moved to the Springwater area at an early age. He remained in the Springwater/Wayland area for his entire life residing for the majority at his current home.f.
Peter was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and he was a member of the Springwater Fire Department.
Peter was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Emma Callahan; a son, Dana Callahan; a granddaughter, Caitlin Callahan; and the caretaker of his children and home, Grace Geyer.
He is survived by his children, Barbara (Richard) Smith of Springwater, Brenda Stanton of Prattsburgh, Peter (Patricia) Callahan of Palmyra and Beverly (George) Johnson of Wayland; grandchildren, Phillip (Dawn) VanAmburg of Prattsburgh, BobbiJo (Jeremy) Baker of Wayland, Tricia Johnson of Springwater and Sean and Ryan Callahan of Palmyra; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Mason VanAmburg of Prattsburgh.
Peter’s family and friends called 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment and committal prayers were held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland. Contributions in Peter J.
