A playground committee lead by York Central elementary teachers Rachel Joy and Stephanie Rudgers has set the goal of raising $120,000 by the summer of 2011.
The mission of the committee is to build an innovative, safe and inviting playground promoting whole body physical fitness to replace the existing and dated facility.
“The new playground will focus on core muscle development — and get rid of the wood playground, which has begun to rot,” Joy said.
To date the group has been selling t-shirts and magnets (available at the front door and at both school offices) and hosted a dinner at the Geneseo Applebees restaurant. The committee also hosted a breakfast presentation at the school, documenting the progress of their efforts, featuring a slide show and student artwork. They are hoping for corporate and local business assistance.
There is an upcoming fundraising pancake breakfast at Applebees restaurant next week. Call the school for further details, 243-1730 x2146.
Persons interested in making a contribution may email Carrie Tiede at catiede@yorkcsd.org or Alison Guesno at amguesno@yorkcsd.org.

I’m glad I came across this site. I am actually planning on initiating a school fundraising event for our school. I just cant think of what type of fundraising effort should I do.
