While this may not be the case throughout the rest of the state or in New York City, I can assure the governor and our state’s liberal downstate leadership that we absolutely need our state parks. These parks, wholly within my assembly district, contribute to the quality of life for the citizens of our community, and they bring in thousands of tourists to the region and stimulate the local economy.
The governor’s proposed executive budget would close the Letchworth’s busy North End Swimming Pool, following an earlier closing of the South End pool. Letchworth would also lose funding for educational and camper recreation programs. Darien Lake State Park would suffer from the camper recreation cuts.
