Jeffres powers Pavilion past Geneseo

Pavilion's Jack Jeffres puts one down in the fourth period against Geneseo.

GENESEO — Make no mistake about it — Jack Jeffres can dominate a basketball game when he needs to.

That was evident Friday night.

With his team struggling to a 36-31 lead after three periods, the 6-foot-4 Pavilion senior guard/forward sliced and diced the Geneseo defense up like a hot knife through butter as he scored 11 of his game-high 26 points as the Golden Gophers went on a 19-2 run to earn the 55-33 victory in Livingston Conference D-III action.

Jeffres finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and six steals. He also had a monster dunk off a steal that brought out some oohs and ahhs.

Cody Elliott added a double-double of 13 points and 17 rebounds for the Golden Gophers who stayed atop the D-III standings at 6-1 (10-5 overall).

Geneseo’s George Kimball kept the Blue Devils in it during a third period which saw him hit back-to-back three-pointers from the same spot.

Taylor Semmel (2-13) led Geneseo with eight points.
