The Village of Dansville held the latest edition of its monthly neighborhood meetings Jan. 26. With the weather cooperating and the holiday season over, this month’s meeting was better-attended than previous months.
Village Administrator Keith Petti and Trustee Andrew Kershner used the meeting as an opportunity to answer questions and update attendees on the consolidation study.
On Jan. 20, the consolidation study committee held its first meeting. The committee consists of representatives from both the town and village, including Mayor William, Dixon, Town Supervisor Dennis Mahus, the town and village attorneys, two councilpersons and trustees, two town and village residents, the village and town clerks, and the village administrator. In addition, the committee also includes two members of the firm, CGR — which was chosen to complete the study.
The committee will be responsible for hearing possible consolidation scenarios and making recommendations to the town and village governments at the conclusion of the study (expected to last nine months).
During the course of the study, a survey will be sent to members of the community. In order to keep residents informed, the CGR website will offer updates. In addition, two public meetings are expected to be held during the consolidation study process.
The next neighborhood meeting will be held on February 23rd (last Tuesday of the month) at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall.
