WAYLAND — There is little doubt that when Alyssa Englert walks out the graduation door this June, the Wayland-Cohocton senior will leave her mark as one of the best three-sport athletes the LCAA has ever seen.
On Tuesday night, Englert became Way-Co’s all-time scoring leader as she netted 16 points to eclipse 2009 graduate Leslie Havens as No. 1 all-time with 1,358 points.
Englert also finished with five rebounds and four steals as Way-Co (10-4) got the 56-30 victory over visiting Bath (8-7) in D-I action.
“It was a different kind of a game for us tonight,” said Way-Co coach John Crossett. “It was great to see Alyssa establish the new scoring record, but it was evident that she was looking to score to put this all behind her. She usually is distributing the ball more, but next game I think she'll feel more comfortable in her usual playmaking role. The good thing is that we had a number of players who really stepped up tonight.”
Two of those players were Sarah Wolcott and Tiana Cheasman.
Wolcott finished with a career-high 19 points and nine rebounds while Cheasman added 10 points and five assists. Rachel Meyer added four points and seven rebounds.
Megan Russell led Bath with 13 points and six rebounds while Nikki Murat tallied seven points. Courtney Coots finished with six points and seven rebounds for the Lady Rams.
“We just plain got our butts kicked tonight,” said Bath coach Randy Abrams. “We were dominated on the boards and played very little inside defense.”
