ROCHESTER — So what if defending state champion Avon lost seven of their top nine players from last year’s team.
So what if the Braves dropped seven games during the regular season playing against mostly larger schools.
So what if one of the best big guys in the LCAA (Corey Upright) went down to a pre-season injury and was ruled out for the year.
Because you need to remember, you can’t measure basketball talent without starting at the heart.
And this year’s Braves have a lot of that.

Cal-Mum's Sean Ancker is blocked from behind in the first quarter by a Mynderse defender as the Red Raiders blew a fourth period lead to fall victim to the Blue Devils Monday night at RIT.
Sparked by another outstanding defensive effort, No. 10 Avon built up a 30-11 halftime lead and coasted to the 54-38 victory over No. 11 Campbell-Savona in the Class C1 semifinals Monday at RIT.
Senior guard Garrett Kesel scored 13 of his 17 points in the first half while junior guard James Stanton netted all 12 of his points in the second half as the Braves (14-7) advanced to the sectional finals for the second straight year.
Junior guard Zoltan Pallagi added eight points and five assists while Patrick Campbell tallied seven points and four steals for Avon.
The Braves will advance to meet top-seeded and undefeated Mynderse (21-0) in the finals Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Blue Cross Arena. Mynderse rallied to beat Cal-Mum, 56-48.

good write up….. avon does have alot of heart this year too.
