WEBSTER — The Livonia Flames girls U-14 soccer team captured the Webster Lakefront Classic Empire Cup in dramatic fashion as they defeated Canandaigua in the championship via a shootout.
After a 60 minute scoreless game, neither team was able to score in the two overtime periods, so the game was decided on penalty kicks.
Livonia converted on three penalty kicks to Canandaigua’s one to claim the title.
The Flames did not allow a single goal the entire tournament as they shut out Penfield 9-0, Webster 2-0 and played Holley to a 0-0 tie to advance to the finals.
The Flames are undefeated in the RDYSL league play with a 5-0 record.
