This was a busy weekend, here in Leicester, for the firemen celebrated the many years they served the community. I understand there was a parade through Leicester and many activities on Saturday, August 14.

For several days in a row now, Hawk’s cousin has been visiting from up south. He comes early in the morning before the heat of the day. He always sits on a lower branch than Hawk does, out of deference to this being Hawk’s home. It’s fun to host them both in my upper branches and listen in on the news that Hawk’s cousin brings.

After 38 years of service to the congregation of York United Presbyterian Church, Neil Frood, Jr. will officially step down from his duties as pastor on Sunday, Aug. 15.
‘Don’t be afraid to think big’
I’ve been following the development of the Samuel Warren Homestead with interest since the York Historical Society bought the property in 2005. I dare say the little non-profit group scarcely knew what a treasure it had uncovered.
