The “keep it positive” attitude in Mount Morris is a nice thing. Courteous discourse is the hallmark of civilization. Kindness to others is the essence of humanity. But the “Positive” mantra can be overplayed to the point where it suppresses honest communication.

Genesee Valley farmers who are into another planting season anxiously await a decision which will relieve them from the terrible pressure they are under to find legal workers to milk their herds.

I was in Indianapolis recently to meet with four of my five living cousins. I have seen all of them individually from time to time, but this is the first time we were all in the same room since a bigger family reunion 25 years ago when some of our parents’ generation were still alive.

About six years ago, on a family day trip to Rochester from our home in Allegany County, we passed through the Village of Mount Morris. In total seriousness my son Ryder, who was then 8years old, asked, “Dad, is this a ghost town?”
